Saturday 4th June 2004 started our 27th meeting in the lands of the Barolo wine. We drove only on secondary routes to enjoy the wonderful views. We drove between the splendid countrysides of Vigevano, Mortara, Sartirana Lomellina, Valenza, Alessandria, Asti and Grinzane Cavour.
There, in Grinzane Cavour, we went to the famous castle which was at our disposal thanks to the comunal administration.
We parked our spiders in front of the castle and at that moment we saw 45 cars which came from many different italian regions and we were also surprised to see together old and new associated with different ages.
In the castle we had an interesting guided visit into the little museum. The castle of Grinzane Cavour hosts also a well – supplied stock of vintage wines and a party – room.
At the end of the visit we went to Barolo, a small city in the piemontese region of
Langhe.
In Barolo we visited the ancient town and the rich stock of vintage wines into the castle of the town.
Then we went to Alba where we ate in a restaurant the typical dishes of this region, based on meat and truffles.
On Sunday 5th of June we went to the “ Cantina Giordano di Valle Talloria” where we had a guided visit. There we were welcome by
the Giordano family, and Mr Ferdinando’s son Gianni, a good rally pilot, started his career driving a wonderful 124 Abarth.
In the “ Cantina Giordano” we had a free degustation of the products of this company.
After the visit at the “ Cantina Giordano” we went to visit the “ Antica Torroneria Piemontese “ , the laboratory where there is the production of the typical piemontese torrone, a kind of nougat producted with the godd hazel – nuts of Alba.
The our meeting is finished and we came back home.
A greeting to all our friends, with the hope to have the possibility to spend other wonderful days together and with our cars, because the Fiat 124 spider is a very extraordinary car which gives us the possibility to meet old and new friends.
